The spiritual facts of Memorial Day are little known.
When a few women placed flowers on the graves of soldiers who died during the American Civil War, Union and Confederate, there purpose was to heal both the living and the dead. By honoring both sides of the conflict, they created a constructive communication line between the dead soldier’s loved ones AND between the two warring parties.
Acknowledging the pain and sorrow to all who had suffered was the beginning of a deep healing process and the first in time of war.
Few among us have not lost a loved one. Many feel as though there’s “unfinished business” with a father or mother, brother or sister, once they’ve died. On Memorial Day, we can establish spiritual contact with those who have passed over, not just soldiers. This can bring healing to ourselves and to those who have departed.
Take a moment to create a memorial observance of your own this May 31, 2010.
1. Send real love to the person who has died and let him know that he or she is still loved.
2. Tell him that you want to forgive him and that you have forgiven him.
3. Ask his forgiveness and, from the bottom of your heart, visualize that he has forgiven you.
4. If he left debts, try to pay them so that he is relieved of any anxieties.
5. Try to view the mistakes he made in life as a lesson for you, so that you won’t make the same mistakes but, instead, live the virtues he exhibited.
6. During this spiritual memorial tribute, promise to take care of those whom he left behind.
7. Finally, try to actualize his dreams. Many people build schools, publish books, spread freedom, in honor of their mother or father.
To communicate our forgiveness, gratitude and sacrifice is the greatest gift we can send to Higher Worlds. In releasing our loved one, we release them from their attachment to the physical world and send them on the beautiful path to the Subtle World.
