Today, May 8th, is Mother’s day, a celebration of Mothers and of womanhood. One-hundred twenty (120) years ago, one of the greatest women of the 19th century, Helena P. Blavatsky (HPB) passed away on May 8, 1891.
In her will, Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, the heroic spiritual herald, author of The Secret Doctrine and founder of the Theosophical Society, suggested that her friends might gather together on the anniversary of her passing and read from Sir Edwin Arnold’s The Light of Asia and from The Bhagavad Gita. Her surviving colleagues in the Theosophical Society suggested that the anniversary of her passing, May 8th, be known as White Lotus Day.
Old Diary Leaves, Henry S. Olcott (paraphrased p. 471)
On May 8, 1935, another extraordinary female co-worker of the Hierarchy of Light, Helena Roerich, wrote in a letter
…I wish to say that truly the women must sacredly guard the chalice entrusted to them: the moving of the consciousness and the saving of the world. The Epoch of Maitreya is the epoch of woman.
Filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg shows us the beauty and seduction of how flowers evolve. Watch the stunning time-lapse photography from his film “Wings of Life,” inspired by the vanishing of one of nature’s primary pollinators, the honeybee.
Revel in fields of butterflies and bee-filled skies.
Schwartzberg believes that “we will protect what we love.”
Flowers to share with that special “mom” in your life.
In 1933, the distinguished Russian artist and Teacher, Nicholas Roerich, painted this painting called Most Sacred Treasure of the Mountain.
Hidden in a cave in the mountains are the most beautiful crystals. Beyond the crystals, we see that there is a secret or most sacred meeting taking place. In the center of the meeting, we see that one of the figures holds a chalice from which emanates a flame. This is Agni, the sacred fire of Shamballa. The figures are the great Teachers, members of the Hierarchy of Light, the organization of Masters that guide humanity.
The great purpose in Our actions is to aid humanity in the shiftings of consciousness. …
The retrograde motion of a planet occurs when, due to the movement of the earth in its orbit, a planet appears to be moving in reverse of its normal orbital movement around the Sun.
From a psychological standpoint that reverse movement tends to turn that planetary effect inward.
The most popular retrograde planet is Mercury. This is because Mercury rules the mind which is the true Messenger of the gods. When Mercury is direct, the mind is turned outward. The focus is on using the mind to take care of business in the outer world.
