Capricorn 2010

The Tibetan Master calls the sign, Capricorn, the most mysterious of the signs. One of the reasons is hidden in it’s symbol of the mountain top. In climbing toward the top, there is so much mystery that will be revealed. But it is a difficult and treacherous climb.

All of our striving through the previous signs leads us just to the base of the mountain. Then the real work begins. This is because now we have to let go of all that prevents us from living as a real, spiritual being. We can’t pretend anymore.

In arriving at the base, we feel the mountain’s power. We look up and see it rising beyond the clouds. There is a tremendous amount of tension that engulfs us when we start to climb. This is gravity, the powerful pull of matter. If we have not prepared ourselves and strengthened our body and mind, we cannot withstand this force of gravity, and we will not climb very far.

We have all seen that image of a group of mountain climbers connected to each other by a rope. If one or more of us is not prepared for the climb, and still attached to something at the bottom of the mountain, we hinder the rest of the group.

Capricorn is one of the great transformers in the Zodiac. All the changes that are taking place in the world today shows us that this is a time of major transformation and that the old rules no longer apply. We have to adapt to the higher altitude, if we want to survive.

If we want to advance spiritually, then we need to put ourselves within the powerful tension of this climb. The mountain is the mysterious passage from one level of consciousness to a new and lofty one.

Capricorn opens the door to the guiding Teachers of the planet, the Spiritual Hierarchy. Like the gods of Mount Olympus, they are contacted at the top of the mountain.

When we decide to climb this mountain, we are insisting that we want this contact and that we need a new vantage point. The climb can only take place when we are sick and tired of putting all our energies into maintaining the illusion of a life attached to the earth.

This climb takes us from the limited perspective of selfish living to a super-state of universal awareness. It is the climb from darkness to light.

M.M. says:

Verily one should accept the symbol of the Summit as the goal in the ascent of the spirit.

Fiery World III, #22

I hope that we all have this goal on our New Years’ “to do” list.
